Impact on the Organization
AzyCon Connector Documentation
To demonstrate the impact the AzyCon Connector on the organization of your editorial department, we will give a description of a few bottlenecks where the AzyCon Connector can be of use.
Publishing content to the web
We have two groups of editors working on the same title. A group of editors who create content for the paper issue of the title and we have a group of web-editors who maintain the website and publish content on the website. A lot of the content created for the paper issues is at a later time published on the web. The content must be adjusted to fit the needs and wants of readers on the web. The web-editor has to read the article and adjusts the article as needed. This is very time consuming. To make the publishing process more efficient the editor who writes content could also make the content for the web. The web-editor no longer needs to comprehend the whole context of the content and the content no longer needs adjustment.
The AzyCon Connector makes it possible to publish content directly from the Woodwing publishing software to the website.
Interaction between paper content and web content
Improving the interaction between the paper content and the web content can improve the revenue from both the website and the paper issue. It can create a lot more page views on the website without having a negative impact on the amount of readers of the paper issue. This also works the other way round. To get the most benefit of this interchange is to have one editor create the content for both the web and the paper issue. The editor can then create also these references to the content for both the website and paper issue. The web-editor then does not have to read and comprehend the content to create a teaser that has the correct context.
The AzyCon Connector makes it possible to create both the content for the paper issue and the content for the website in the same system by the same editor.
Separating the tasks of the web-editor
The tasks of a web-editor are many but generally we can split the tasks in two groups.
The editor tasks are all the tasks that have to do with content. These tasks include publishing and maintaining the content on the website. The webmaster tasks are all the tasks that have to do with maintaining the website. These tasks include maintaining pages, moderating user generated content and keeping all services of the website running. When looking at the separation of tasks we can conclude that the editor tasks of the web-editor are the same as the tasks of the editor of the paper issue.
The AzyCon Connector makes it possible for the editor of the paper issue to also do the editor tasks for the website.
